Cycling in Korea: Gangneung Training - Critical Mass Korea!

Cycling in Korea: Gangneung Rides in June 2010. The site updates have been limited (apologies) with activity in training building up recently, along with family matters and graduate work -intense scheduling it all in. Cycling from the northeastern coast of South Korea (beaches patrolled with military after 12am), makes for an exciting training ground for cycling international. With mountains surrounding a city of 250,000 inhabitants, beaches and coastal riding available here, and routes into various countryside towns, villages, and rice patties -it's an inviting ride. I would like to update all Korean riders (Expats & Koreans alike) to keep a watch out for the Critical Mass Korea - when riders take to the streets of major cities to show support for the two-wheel movement (clean air, healthy living, go green, cut down emissions, get fit, etc...). There are monthly events staged in Seoul (3rd Saturday of every month!), Pusan (4th Saturday of every month), Suwon (4th Saturday of every month!), and Chuncheon (2nd Saturday of every month!)

Hello everyone (Cycling in Korea or elsewhere too ^^!)

I would like to announce the KOREA CRITICAL MASS, rides organized with Koreans and Expats, and Max Christian has an excellent message (below) I wanted to pass along to all members directly. Hope everyone is having excellent summer spins, the beaches are open, the water is warm (around Gangneung where I am now based), the mountains and intense cycling routes in Korea are all inviting.

If you need assistance with sourcing a new bike, or would like to join other tours, feel free to contact me, tesol2000@gmail.com

Off on a 5-7 day mission cycling across Korea next week, starting out Monday, July 5th from Gangneung, Gangwondo -heading towards Pyeongcheong, Jinbu, Chuncheon, Yang Yang, Gangneung...etc.

That's a great idea to message everyone! How about something like this:

Did you know that Korea has well-established Critical Mass rides? The Seoul event has been taking place monthly for over nine years and the 111th ride is on July 17th at 4pm. There are also rides in Suwon, Busan and Chuncheon.

The Seoul ride takes an 8-10km route setting off from near Gwanghwamun and ending in Yeouido. The main website is at http://bike.jinbo.net/ and information is available in English from this Facebook group:
